How to Attract Attendees to your Booth Space

For the past year, I've been reading books, articles and blogs about how to attract business. There is so much darn stuff out there it is hard to wade through it all and pull out the real tangible ideas that really work!

Most exhibitors use similar tactics to attract attendees to their booth. They use promotional giveaways, celebrities, games, raffles, etc. All excellent ways to attract a "general attendee." However, to attract the "right" attendee - the person who truly needs your product or service

the work has to start way before the show. Even way before the your pre show mailing (you do a mailing don't you? If you don't, then that's another story...).

As soon as you sign up for a booth space (or even before if you regularly participate), you should have a list of all qualified prospects who will (or should) attend. These are the ones who have been difficult to reach. At least 6 to 9 months before, your plan should include regular contact with these future clients.

The goal is to get them to know you, trust you and be drawn to you. It is NOT to harass and annoy them. How? By providing them with real solid timely sincere information they need. Email them a link to a site that might be helpful to them in business or pleasure. It does not have to always be about the show. If it is early spring, send them a link to a great vacation spot you visited or heard about. Don't forget the old fashion note or card sent through the good 'ole US Postal Service! The point is to be meaningful and sincere in every communication.
